Theodor Klotz was not only the founder of the jewelry company but also the main designer and silversmith responsible for its characteristic aesthetic. He founded the company TEKA in 1939 in Pforzheim, Germany. Pieces are typically stamped with the word TEKA, often contained within a distinctive triangular reserve. They are also marked with the silver purity (925 or 835).
Klotz’s work captured the spirit of post-war German modernism with a distinct emphasis on texture and form. Today, TEKA is highly regarded by collectors today for its Modernist pieces produced primarily during the 1950s to 1970s. The designs are abstract, bold, and three-dimensional. Pendants, rings, and brooches are often heavy and feel like small, wearable sculptures.
